Why I love to blog

The coolest thing about blogging is that I get to make as much noise as I like about a topic, but it is silent unless you choose to tune in! Silent noise, that's what I like! How cool is that?!

Blogging is a kind of self-publishing. There is an audience out there, interested in what you have to say! It is so much fun, kind of like keeping a journal....Of course you must keep in mind that others are reading what you write!!!

Blogging is also like scrapbooking: pasting pics, fonts, and cool sidebar toys to personalize your page. Doing creative layouts, and adding your photography or artwork....

Blogging brings me the biggest group of pen-pals I could ever wish for!!! I love the fact that people from all over the world are getting a glimpse of my everyday life, of my locale, my loves and likes, my foibles, and, ever so rarely, my wit (!)

And I am equally enamored of reading their blogs, for the same reasons. I expand my knowledge by reading others' blogs, I am enriched by their observations on life. I actually feel closer to you all--we may have different lifestyles, but we each try to live life fully, in our own situation. Teddy Roosevelt said, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Those famous words spoken during the Great Depression are a great truth, and blogging brings it home!

The Internet is like the world's largest library, with knowledge at the touch of a button. When my children were young, we used to read and read and read. We practically lived at the library. To keep our minds open, always absorbing new ideas (literature, craft books, short stories, baking, gardening, biographies, any topic you could imagine!) Now I can find this all on-line, in the middle of the night in my pajamas if I want! Love it!

Blogging is like the world's biggest craft show....you can choose to follow progress on any creation documented online-- photo albums of quilt shows, a thought process for a new knit pattern being written, recipes, original works of art, and knockoffs in every possible variation. I'm so inspired by the amazing creativity out there!

Blogging is a way to document things I love, while sharing them with the world.

I'm both exhilarated and exhausted just thinking about all the possibilities blogging and the internet bring to my life! Amazing!!!!

:-D

Isn't it interesting to follow blog stats and comments, and to see what people respond to and what they don't? Blogging is like doing your own sociology experiment.

I love the reasons why you blog. I also love what snapdragon said about sociology experiments. :)
