My Chevron Scarf

Okay. Here is my own version of the Chevron scarf. I did not have the pattern that everyone is making, so I grabbed a Barbara G Walker stitch pattern book (A Treasury of Knitting Patterns) and made one up, based on the pattern "Feather and Fan Stitch or Old Shale" on page 205. This is a lacy eyelet chevron, and I omitted the eyelets, and decided each wave should be 6 stitches long, and that the pattern should evolve over the 4 rows that the original pattern does. So here it is:

2 contrasting balls of variegated yarn (mine in Socks That Rock heavyweight, which is a worsted weight yarn, or DK)....Colors A and B
size 10.5 needles (definitely could go smaller on this.)

Cast on 54 sts with Color A.

Knit 3 rows for garter stitch edge

Row 1: With A....(right side) Knit

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: With B....*(K2 tog)3 times, (yo, K1)6 times, (K2 tog)3 times;rep from *.

Row 4: Purl

Repeat 1-4, changing color every 2 rows until length you want!!! Fun. There are many beautiful examples here, which I just love to look at. And frankly, I copied someone's yarn choice and used STR Watermelon Tourmaline and Farmhouse. Next one I'll choose my own!

I like the way the colors are turning out. That is a very cool scarf.

Welcome to blogland! I landed here from Opal's blog. You are going to make so many friends and have such a good time. Blogging is addictive! I just moved here to Wyoming from Wisconsin two months ago. Avid knitter and am currently working on my own chevron scarf. Have fun!

Really pretty ripple scarf. Great colors. I'm checking in from Opal's blog and I hope you enjoy blogging as much as the rest of us. I think your skull and crossbones mittins are wonderful!

Thanks for the pattern! I wasn't about to buy a whole book for just one pattern and such a simple one as that. Now you've given me a very affordable alternative!

Hi, quick question as I'm starting this scarf, are you sure that you mean knit row 4? Or so you mean purl?

Thanks,
Sarah

Sarah,
You are correct, it should be purl in Row 4. Thanks for the heads-up! (I just changed it, above)
