Maui, here we come....

I can hardly contain my excitement...and DH too. You guys must understand, we've waited 25 years for this trip :) We hardly ever travel, so this is big, big, BIG!

I'm trying to figure out what knitting to bring with me. I need to check with the airline to see if I can even bring knitting needles on the flight...I suppose they'd be okay with circulars of wood, but not sure. It's really bugging me what I should bring--maybe it's time to start the Christmas knitting for DS (Moderne Log Cabin)....I'd hate to pack my Jaywalkers and have them tell me to give them the needles at the gate. I inherited my aluminum tiny-gauge needles from my gramma. Hmmm.
Any thoughts?

Anyway, this'll probably be my last post until our return. Think of us on our 25th anniversary, lollygagging on the beach :D

Oh I'm sooooo happy for you. My girlfriend just got back and loved it. I wish you both a wonderful anniversary.

About the needles, here's what I do since I traveled for a living up until a year ago when I went home-based. I always keep a copy of the TSA allowables printed off in my bag that says exactly what crafty supplies are allowed. I alwasy have a fedex envelope with a pre-filled airbill to mail back to myself in case of trouble, but at 120 flights a year, I never have. They prefer circulars to straights, for obvious reasons and prefer bamboo or plastic over metal. Domestically, I don't care if I have metal circs. Bamboo DPNs are find too it seems, but I never tried metals to bring with me. Circs have to be under a certain length. I want to say 36" but I think 60"? My other rule of thumb is to have the project cast on and started so it's obvious what the needles are used for without question.

Another hard lesson I learned though is to not carry yarn where the color-fast is questionable. Meaning, you'll wear the dye in humidity with your hands sweating. Hope that's helpful.

enjoy your trip. I have traveled with my plastic circulars with no problem. You should be fine with wood.
