Alligator Scarf

My alligator scarf project, which happens to be scarf #10, is coming along nicely. I am making this for my 6 yr old nephew:

I think he will love to wear this scarf this winter!

This pattern is really fun to make up. I am confused though: they sent me worsted weight wool in the kit, but the pattern calls for sport weight. And they say to use either size 5 or 6 needles, which I'm using (5s) and it is making a very much smaller scarf. (I do want to make it smaller; the finished adult size is 56" long, and I think that's a bit much for someone who is only 3 feet tall!) So it's all good.

Now for more backpeddling: remember when I said there were no knit books to be sold? I just found one!

I will be listing this on Ebay soon, but if anyone wants it, you can purchase it from me before I list it. I am asking $5 for it, and the shipping will be $4.60; total is still $5 cheaper than purchasing the book new. Leave a comment here with contact info if you want it....

Thanks for the compliments. I can't post the pattern for the alligator scarf, but you can find the pattern at Morehousemerino.com! It is a fun knit.

Thank you for the response.
I'll check it out but there's not much chance of it fitting into my current budget.

Happy Knitting!!!
I look forward to seeing more of your projects

Hi..I know you said you wouldn't post the pattern for the alligator scarf...but would you consider a pattern trade via snail mail? I called Morehouse and they said the pattern itself would be available as soon as the website was updated, whenever that was. I have oodles of patterns, and am currently into making stuffed animals. You can email me at moerose13@yahoo.com if you're interested in a trade. Thanks! :)

I know this post is quite old but I am wondering if you could answer a couple of questions for me concerning the alligator scarf from morehouse farms?
what would you say is the difficulty level of this project? Also, are there any tricky stitches or parts to the pattern? I am a beginner knitter, but LOVE this pattern and would really like to make it.
thanks for your time.

Hello Heidi,

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you so you.
I don't know if "bumpydoink" replied or not.

It has been quite a while since I made this, but the good news is that I DID make it and I don't remember it being too bad at all. And it's SO darn cute!
The hardest part about it was that it is the same thing, over and over and over and over again.

I'd be happy to help you out along the way if you have any questions, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Good Luck!

Hi Heidi,
I am a beginner knitter as well. I bought the pattern for the alligator scarf, which by the way is only my second knitting project ever, and it was fairly simple. I had to look up a few stitches and how to's on youtube.com, which is perfect to actually SHOW you how to do certain stitches. My gator scarf turned out perfect! I bought different yarn (orange and blue, I live in Gainesville Florida) and love the results.
