Washcloth craze

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I LOVE knitted washcloths :)

wow I thought I was really going off on the washcloths, but look at Mason Dixon's post from last year--guess I'm following right behind all those other crazed knitters who have gone before me!!!!

I feel myself gravitating toward washcloths again. I love them so much! And as my ripple afghan in Sugar 'n Cream nears its end, I can foresee tons of great washcloth cotton left over--hmmm, what to make, what to make?! I'll be very busy with all my Christmas knitting, but I want to make myself another washcloth soon! Because, frankly, some of the old one's I knit a few years ago, are starting to wear out. And I must have a plethora of washcloths to go with my cottage-y decor!

Convertible is being badly neglected. I was realizing I may not have enough of the yarn after all that work. Must find the tag for it, and yardage, b/c methinks it is not going to be sufficient. We'll see--the back burner is where you'll find this project. I still want to make something of the sort, and that wool is really tasty to the fingers!

Also on hold is the Chevron scarf. It is in the bottom of my bag, about 1/2 done, waiting patiently to be picked up again...."I'm coming honey!" Last time I posted about this project (or even thought about it) was back in May!!! Oops :D

Yay, one down!

One Xmas gift down, another one 2/3 done! Yay. Just finished the SIL scarf tonight, and have a crappy photo to show for it (very dim lighting):



So I achieved something....:) Now to finish Sharfik, that's my goal this weekend.

Ooooh, look at this beautiful shawl/shrug/thingie! It takes the same concept as Convertible from Knitty a bit farther, with fun bobble-buttons. I really think this is gorgeous!

Wanting to find another Barbara Walker book from the library this weekend...I must start another scarf soon, am thinking something like the kureopatora snake scarf with my Nashua tweed stripes yarn. Think it would make another SIL a good gift....

Time for a WIP list

I thought I would make myself a little listie to really visualize my partially completed projects. So I sat down and made me a listie:

   It won't even fit me now, so why should I finish it? But yet, it keeps calling my name. Let's face it, a WIP for 12 years has some pull on you! Besides, it might fit my daughter....(but will she like a 12 year old style?) Pattern is from a Women First mag--around 1993?

11. This is a not quite finished hat (just have ends to weave in, and was thinking about black double pom-poms on a short cord from the top point of the hat).
    
    It was my own design with this beautiful Linie 97 yarn that looks like snowflakes on the fabric! Love it, and will be making a scarf to match--tried knitting one with double strands, but the result was very stiff, so I just frogged it :)

Saturday mornings

Ah, lazy Saturday mornings. Love waking up whenever, doing whatever whenever, and having a day all to myself. The hours ahead are so full of promise....can I crank out the housework that needs so badly to be done, run errands, and be creative in my various hobby-pursuits all in one day? I always have that hopeful outlook--- however unrealistic it may be. I need the sense of happiness & hope that Saturday mornings bring!

Nothing new on the knitting front, I picked up Convertible yesterday at my lunch hour, and started knitting a row, then realized I had screwed it up the previous time I was knitting on it, and had to spend 10 minutes UNKNITTING (not my favorite). So in about 40 minutes time, I only got 2 rows knit. Sigh. I'm afraid that this project, like the clapotis, is going to drag on and on.....

I think my problem is I have toooooooooo many projects lined up, and any number of WIP at the same time. Gotta stop doing that, it makes me crazy!

Am thinking of joining the Stashalong blog, to set myself more concrete (and realistic) knitting goals! Last fall I was so into knitting hats, I had decided that cranking those out would be a cool thing to do for a holiday craft show in November, 2007. I talked about it with a friend, but now my interest in that is superceded by my desire to knit everyone in my family their Christmas gifts....Have a couple of cool patterns ready for that, just haven't made official start (and here it is, already 6 months into the new year!) I may have to adjust that goal somewhat, taking into consideration reality! Sigh.

Thinking Irish Hiking Scarf and the Duulaan Scarf would be good starters--many males in my family, so needing to choose non-foofoo patterns and yarns....:) Can't say much more here w/o spoiling it for giftees; just know that I am soon to become a gift-knitting machine!

I love orange....

I just purchased this gorgeous handpainted yarn on-line from Crash Into Ewe on Etsy. I don't know why I have been purchasing such hot colors in yarn lately. My only guess is how much I long for warmth during our yucky long cold gray winter. (I need to get out of this climate!!) I have bought at least 3 different weights of hot colors variegated yarn from different sources in the past 3 months! Go figure. I never was a big fan of orange.....until now!

I am making convertible from Knitty. Seems like a great variety of ways to wear this, and I am enjoying the pattern and the yarn. Can't wait to wear the finished product next time it gets cold!



This great lace-weight yarn is from Maisy Day, at Hello Yarn. Look at that outstanding color! Will be something beautiful, in the future--not sure what yet, but I had to have it!



This variegated fingering weight yarn only cost me $22 for 10 balls!!!! There's enough here for a shawl of some size....heh, heh, heh. I bought it from here.

This is a bag I made with 2 colors of Cascade 220, a fuschia and a yellow, with the hope I'd get an overall peach color. It felted up so ugly I can hardly stand it. But I have a feeling that if I were to felt some purple flowers with some red ones to put on it, that it would finally look finished. Right now it looks like something nasty from the '70s. Eeeew.

But see what I mean about orange creeping into my stash?
